Arezo is a values-based football program aimed at increasing resilience, self-confidence and providing a sense of belonging for Afghan girls and women in their community and the broader Australian community. Arezo means hope in Dari. It is a jointly developed project between Creating Chances (Football United) and a group of Afghan Australian women, and funded by Migration Council Australia. The program has been designed to focus on developing football skills and social and emotional learning in particularly coping mechanisms, self-awareness and creating connections. 

The sessions will be delivered by qualified Creating Chances & Football United coaches including Dari speakers and female role models from the Afghan-Australian community. 
There are further opportunities for the participants to partake in: 

  • Fair play football tournaments 
  • Coach education training
  • A women’s leadership and coach camp culminating in the Afghan Australian National Tournament
