Ayman Hill

Head Facilitator

I struggled in school with focusing, picking the right friends and just being there in general. Funnily enough, I intend to spend majority of my time back in schools.

There were plenty of times in High School where I would just be in my own little world and take the days one by one, not getting work done and just being another number. The only parts I enjoyed were sport and practical lessons. I loved to be in the timber workshop and in cooking class. I really love my football, although in my younger years I wasn’t very good at it, I always played an age older in my brothers’ team and best believe I sat on the bench for most of the game. I practised a whole lot and eventually I got better, I have lived and played overseas and currently play for the Indigenous First Nations national team.

It took a failed degree for me to realise that I quite enjoy teaching, as I was coaching my local football club at the time it was something, I looked forward to all the time. A conversation with a university lecturer helped me decide that I would start a primary school teaching degree. Working with Creating Chances has really complimented this degree and continues to do so, endless opportunities to be in school delivering sessions were thrown my way and it has given me a tremendous amount of personal growth and experiences for when I become a teacher. I’ve had the opportunity to represent this organisation in New York with Beyond Sport.

I have found that I love teaching, and educating, this doesn’t mean the classroom only. I coach at my local football club and my players expect nothing but my best out of me, because after all they are learning from me.

Guiding youth to explore their passions, potential and purpose is a huge factor in why I want to be a teacher. I see students in schools who are holding themselves back from greatness and I want to be that role model to show them that they are in a safe environment to express themselves, have fun and live in the moment for whatever it may be.

My classroom is a place for personal growth, learning, and fun, and hopefully, in the future, my classroom values will turn into the whole school values when I become a Principal one day.

    Ayman recommends:

I lead Creating Chances’ Tackle Life programs in partnership with Rugby NSW. It’s great to have a specific sport that all the students love, and to share that love with younger students in their community.

Our Sunraysia program has had on me. It’s immeasurable.

I want my environment to be a place for personal growth, learning, and fun, and hopefully, in the future, my classroom values will turn into the whole school values when I become a Principal one day.
