In 2012, the a study was funded by an Australian Research Council Linkage Grant (LP0989930), to investigate the implementation of Football United and its impacts, and was designed in consultation with partners. The study provides critically needed guidance for governments and communities to develop and evaluate sports-based and related programs to strengthen Australia’s social fabric and humanitarian refugee settlement.The results presented here are of national, as well as international, significance.
