Professional development programs


Creating Chances* is endorsed to provide the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Registered Professional Development for teachers accredited at Proficient Teacher.

The 6 hours of registered professional development we offer include:

  • Engaging students through experiential learning (2 hours)
  • Managing Teacher Learner interactions (2 hours)
  • Developing critical and creative thinking in the classroom. (2 hours)

 

1. Engaging students through experiential learning (2 hours)

Combining practical demonstration and theory, this course explores student centred pedagogy through the Experiential learning Model and the teacher as a facilitator. Examining student engagement tools and strategies this course provides content and understanding required to generate student centred plans designed to meet engage all students

Proficient Teacher Standard Descriptors

2.1.2   – Apply knowledge of the content and teaching strategies of the teaching area to develop engaging teaching activities

Completing the ‘Engaging students through experiential learning’ course will contribute 2 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Registered PD addressing standard 2.1.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

2. Managing Teacher Learner interactions (2 hours)

Combining practical demonstration of student centred learning activities and reviewing the impact of the physical environment upon learning and social outcomes, this course will provide teachers with the experience, understanding and resources to plan and implement a range of effective student engagement tools and strategies

Proficient Teacher Standard Descriptors

2.1.2 – Apply knowledge of the content and teaching strategies of the teaching area to develop engaging teaching activities

4.1.2 – Establish and implement inclusive and positive interactions to engage and support all students in classroom activities.

Completing the ‘Managing Teacher Learner interactions’ course will contribute 2 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Registered PD addressing standards 2.1.2 and 4.1.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

3. Developing creative and critical thinking in the classroom (2 hours)

Through the demonstrating and breaking down the processes of critical and creative thinking and use of the Socratic method of questioning, this course will provide teachers with the experience, understanding and resources to plan and introduce critical and creative thinking elements to their lessons.

2.1.2 – Apply knowledge of the content and teaching strategies of the teaching area to develop engaging teaching activities

3.3.2 – Select and use relevant teaching strategies to develop knowledge, skills, problem-solving and critical and creative thinking.

4.1.2 – Establish and implement inclusive and positive interactions to engage and support all students in classroom activities.

Completing  the ‘Developing creative and critical thinking in the classroom’ course will contribute 6 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Registered PD addressing standards 2.1.2, 3.3.2 and 4.1.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
