At Creating Chances, our mission is to equip young people with the clarity, confidence, and skills needed to navigate the choices that await them after high school. This core focus forms the backbone of the Future Pathways program, which Northlakes High School (HS) is proudly involved with.
To bring the concept of employment readiness and industry careers to life, a recent excursion offered students an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the Sydney Roosters Centre of Excellence and Allianz Stadium.
The day was far more than just a stadium visit; it was an immersion into the operational heart of a major professional sporting organization. Students got the remarkable opportunity to tour the Roosters Centre of Excellence at Allianz Stadium, delving into the upper and basement levels of the impressive stadium itself. A true highlight was getting to sit in the players’ locker rooms and learn firsthand about the club’s history. This type of hands-on exposure is vital for the Future Pathways participants, who are actively working to identify individual strengths and develop a tailored roadmap for their journey beyond school.
The learning experience continued just down the road at the Roosters NRLW building. Here, the students participated in a dedicated workshop led by a staff member focused on future pathways in the NRL and the diverse job opportunities available in the sports industry after school.
This session perfectly complemented the goals of the Future Pathways curriculum, which is designed to enhance personal identity and build a practical work-readiness portfolio. The exposure provided by this excursion, particularly hearing about diverse career paths within a dynamic, high-performance environment, reinforced the program’s targeted outcomes: Optimism, Self-Belief, and Sense of Purpose.
A real stand-out moment of the day was when all students received Roosters goodie bags, which definitely added to the excitement. Everyone particularly loved learning about the recovery side of professional sport, as well as stepping inside the coaching and media boxes, which gave a fascinating insight into what happens on game day. It was an incredible opportunity to see firsthand what goes on behind the scenes in elite sport and to be inspired by the possibilities that exist beyond the classroom.
By connecting classroom learning with real-world industry leaders like at the Sydney Rooster NRL and NRLW, the Northlakes students gained valuable insights into what it takes to succeed, moving them one step closer to making a lasting impact on their own futures.
Experiences like these prove that the pathways to success aren’t just built in a classroom; they are found on the field.
