Harmony Day Gala Day 2025
A fantastic day of cultural celebration and pride was seen out on the pitch at Western Sydney Wanderers HQ for our 2025 Harmony Day Gala Day. Students from Lurnea High School IEC, Miller Technology High School IEC, Punchbowl Boys High School, Hoxton Park High School, Arthur Phillip High School, Cranebrook High School, Mount Annan Christian College and Evans High School IEC joined us in providing an equal playing field for all, celebrating diversity and emphasising the importance of the Harmony Day theme ‘Everyone Belongs.’
The day was full of cultural connection and exchange, on and off the field. Teacher Cendel Southern, from Evans High School, was buzzing from the vibe of the Gala Day. She was thrilled with the opportunity the students and staff had to recognise and show pride for the fantastic differences in our communities.
“Australia is a multicultural community and it gives us an opportunity to celebrate all the cultures that make up this wonderful country, and what better way than to play some football.”
Cendel Southern, Teacher, Evans High School

Creating Chances Facilitator Oscar was a Game Leader on the field. Oscar noticed the incredible atmosphere created by the students’ willingness to connect through the game, despite language and cultural barriers.
“Harmony Day is important because it allows the kids to connect, it’s really valuable. I’m happy to be a part of such an electric atmosphere."
Oscar Killick-Dodd, Creating Chances Facilitator

Students who attend regular Football United programs at their schools are given the opportunity to take place in gala days like this at the end of their programs as a celebration of program completion. It provides a great sense of achievement, and an opportunity to showcase the technical and teamwork skills that our Facilitation team have guided students through during our weekly programs.
“Harmony Day brings all cultures together and they then learn about other cultures too. It is important because it makes people feel like they belong.”
Hamza, Evans High School Student
