Samar's Story
Samar is a Head Facilitator and School & Engagement Coordinator at Creating Chances. By her own admission, Samar had a challenging time at school, often receiving suspensions and being defiant with teachers.
In 2019, having completed the Champions and Coach program at Wyong High School, Samar trail-blazed her way onto the Creating Chances staff, becoming the first school-based trainee in Creating Chances’ history. Through her own research and advocating for herself, she convinced our management team and her careers advisor to make it happen, leading the way for more than 60 SBATs since.
Samar is based at schools in the Central Coast and Newcastle in New South Wales, where she is passionate about working with young people to see them develop into the legend they were born to be.
Samar continued to work with Creating Chances post her traineeship, as she loved being able to refine and develop new ways to reach young people. Having the opportunity to involve herself in Creating Chances training, events and meetings with co-facilitators has enabled her to learn new tools to go further in her programs.
A highlight of Samar’s journey includes being selected as a young leader at Festival23 held in Sydney, and subsequently at Festival24 in Lyon, France.

“I was the very first Creating Chances School-based Trainee, and have experienced personal growth that continues in my role today as a Head Facilitator and as part of the School Engagement team. My lived experience demonstrates Creating Chances’ mission to foster positive outcomes for youth, and creating a legacy of support.”
