At Creating Chances, we believe that leadership is not about a title, it is about connection, presence, and the courage to take chances. Our Coach Program is the engine that drives this transformation, particularly in the thriving Central Coast region, where we partner with schools such as Northlakes High School, Wadalba Community School, Wyong High School, and Lisarow High School to build the next generation of future-ready leaders. Head Facilitator Mia, has been doing just that.

From volunteer to Head Facilitator, Mia’s journey is one of growth, grit, and leadership. As she climbed the ranks, stepping up from a passionate volunteer to an assistant facilitator, then facilitator, and ultimately taking the helm as Head Facilitator, she didn’t just climb a career ladder; she mastered a high-stakes balancing act.
Along the way, Mia had to expertly juggle her studies with the demanding, high performance training schedule of a rugby league athlete, proving that her work ethic is just as formidable off the field as it is on it. Today, she leads her Central Coast team with an enviable blend of poise and professionalism, serving as a powerful role model and a driving force for everyone around her.

The Coach Program is a pivotal stage in the Youth Development Pathway. It is designed to train young people to step out of their comfort zones and into the roles of high school role models. Mia’s team at Wyong High School have led an awesome program with Assistant Facilitator Zander, and Trainees Blake and Dylan executing their sessions with advanced technical knowledge whilst having an empathy based approach that can only come from experience.
"Mia's leadership has helped me to continue to grow in confidence and comfortability within the working environment by pushing me to do more and want to get better. For example, we sat down and set goals for the term. Mine was to improve my Reflect, Relate, Apply (RRA) section of the session where we provide real life examples of how we have used the theme for the week in our own lives, which allows the students to relate to or our experiences, and allows the content to be understood further. She then made sure that every session I was given the responsibility of doing an RRA and gave me feedback on it to help me get better. Mia has helped me learn how to get the best out of students by creating a strong bond with them which I have seen grow over my past two terms, and it shows in the connection between the students and the program when we finish up at the end of term."
Dylan, School Based Trainee

"Mia and her team taught me how to work better in a team. Learning how to exchange information with my peers and help each other so that we can grow throughout the program and take on board the valuable lessons from the weekly sessions. I liked being able to bond with the kids at the Northlakes Public School, whilst having the belief that I can teach them and have fun. I am also now a lot more confident at talking to others I don't know. It's a really great program”
Katie, Northlakes High School Student
